Poul Henning Kamp is currently fighting a good case to get a refund for the price of his unused Microsoft Vista license, which came along with his new Lenovo laptop.
However there are differences between the Vista case and a similar case regarding a laptop with a preinstalled Windows7 - the operating system licenses are different, which has concequences for getting a refund for the price of Windows7.
At Open Source Days I will hold a BOF, where we can debate out options. I want the ability to buy a great laptop without paying Microsoft for an operating system which I will never use. This is very hard.
I will not like to focus on "religious" and "moral" issues - but rather on cold law, and the actual license.
Please read this blog-entry first - then join the BOF.
Peter Toft is a blogger, conference organizer, yep this one, and he does not like to pay Microsoft-tax.
